The Marion Area Humane Society works to ensure a positive match between all families and their adopted animals. Each person interested in adopting goes through an interactive adoption process consisting of a short survey and meeting with an adoption counselor. Our hope is to find the best fit for each family's individual lifestyle. Our staff will be glad to help you. Requirements:
Talking with an Adoption Counselor helps you choose a pet that will be compatible with your family and lifestyle. Children and current family pets are welcome to visit the shelter for a Meet-n-Greet with potential pets to see how everyone gets along. Adoption
Fees: Dogs: $175 - includes heartworm test, DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, Rabies vaccine, spay/neuter, worming, and flea preventative Cats:
$75 - includes feline
leukemia test, FVRCP vaccine, spay/neuter, worming, and flea preventative Some people may question why there is a
cost to rescuing an animal from a shelter. Well, Marion Area Humane Society
is a Non-Profit organization and we need to make sure we can cover all the
costs of the medical care these animals receive. Below is a chart showing
the deal you're getting by adopting a humane society pet!

Microchipping: All adopters have the option to have their pets micro-chipped when they are adopted. MAHS uses the Home Again microchips and there is a $30 fee for this service. Microchips save lives and increase the chances of you and your pet being reunited. This service is also available to the general public, just call to set up an appointment with a staff member.
